Why did you become an acupuncturist?
I was drawn to acupuncture as a useful complement to my first love—clinical herbal prescription. Once I saw the power of acupuncture as well as its overwhelming versatility and usefulness in treating all kinds of conditions, I knew that becoming an acupuncturist was the only way for me.
What distinguishes you from other acupuncturists?
I’m pragmatic, straightforward, and direct. If you like solid answers, a grounded approach, and someone you can speak to frankly, then I’m your acupuncturist. I also value simple treatments with minimal numbers of needles and the most powerful points used.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
The challenge! I love helping a patient come to a place of resolution around complex health concerns. Every day means a new challenge and a new case.
What is the biggest misconception you hear about acupuncture?
“Acupuncture can’t help me with X, can it?” Acupuncture can help! Whether it’s allergies, colds and flus, autoimmune conditions, dental pain, orthopedic injuries, organ issues, reproductive difficulties, or men’s and women’s health issues, acupuncture can help! Acupuncture can help reduce pain, increase mobility, accelerate healing, support flagging immune systems, and regulate body systems—it helps with everything!
How do you stay healthy in your own life?
I have a regular Hatha and Vinyasa yoga practice as well as two large dogs who are happy to help keep me active. I love receiving our weekly organic produce box and cooking from the perspective of whole-foods nutrition. I support the nourishing traditions of beekeeping, gardening, and home-crafted food. In my free time, I’m often busy crafting, reconnecting with friends, and playing video games with my husband.
