Why did you become an acupuncturist?
I became an acupuncturist because I enjoy helping people feel better. As a massage therapist, I was limited, but now I can help in so many more ways.

What distinguishes you from other acupuncturists?
I really enjoy what I do. I like the combination of acupuncture and herbal therapy because I find it to be extremely effective. Also, I’ve been a massage therapist since 2002, so I like to use my hands to really pinpoint the area of pain.

What do you enjoy most about your work?
I love everything about it! The immediate response the body has to the needles always amazes me and is so much fun! Researching the different conditions that walk into my office is stimulating. Watching people have lasting relief with herbs is rewarding.

What is the biggest misconception you hear about acupuncture?
I’ve had patients who thought acupuncture was a lot of needles in the face, but mostly people think the needles are much larger than they are. They also think the needles are inserted really deep and that they will hurt. Many people don’t know how effective acupuncture is for so many different ailments.

How do you stay healthy in your own life?
I love to cook and eat good food. I exercise regularly, which I never thought I’d enjoy. I relax as often as I can. I play with my cats. I like to get together with friends.
