Why did you become an acupuncturist?
My massage patients motivated me to obtain my masters in Traditional Oriental Medicine. I loved working one on one with patients in a holistic healthcare setting, but I wanted to learn and grow as a practitioner by building my skill set and increasing my knowledge base to treat more conditions and have a life-long profession!
What distinguishes you from other acupuncturists?
I focus on one patient at a time so everyone gets 100% of my attention. I value patient care more than seeing a large volume of patients. I also am in network with Blue Shield, United Healthcare, and Optum plans, making the cost of acupuncture more affordable.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I have chosen a life path and career that is in line with my passions and moral compass, and therefore I believe the work I do is heartfelt and meaningful. I love that the work I do helps clients find solace within themselves. This medicine addresses the source of the problem(s) instead of just the symptoms, which creates an opportunity for more profound results. How cool is that?! I am eager to share this ancient medicine with my community and demonstrate what an amazing tool it can be!
What is the biggest misconception you hear about acupuncture?
The fear of pain. Acupuncture needles are hair thin, single use, stainless steel, and disposable. Often, my patients report no sensation upon insertion of the needles and find that they induce deep relaxation. The needles activate and balance the nervous system.
How do you stay healthy in your own life?
I grew up in the Adirondacks and developed an appreciation for physical activity and a love for the outdoors. I love skiing, hiking, swimming, and ballet as well as yoga therapy, journaling, meditation, and therapeutic massage for overall wellness. I also give myself acupuncture daily with great results!
