Why did you become an acupuncturist?
After working in a traditional medical setting, I realized that there is a serious health crisis in America. After studying with a traditional Taiwan medical master, I realized I could affect one’s health by focusing on the source of the problem—not just the symptoms—with an effective natural medicine that works.
What distinguishes you from other acupuncturists?
My practice is focused on a truly integrative approach that includes not only the Chinese medicine I learned in school and from a classical Chinese master but also modern functional medicine testing and tools.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I have treated thousands of patients over the years in my busy practice. It is so rewarding to see them reduce their reliance on medication, get well when told they wouldn’t, and see their quality of life improve. The first time you are told by a patient that you “saved their life,” there is nothing more rewarding.
What is the biggest misconception you hear about acupuncture?
The biggest misconception I hear is that it is not effective enough to bring about profound change. There is skepticism about whether it works. I can tell you without a doubt that this medicine can change your life.
How do you stay healthy in your own life?
I practice what I preach. My family eats heathy, wholesome foods and we exercise regularly by staying outdoors hiking and practicing primitive living skills such as foraging, shelter making, and living off the land. I am 50 years old and take no medication of any kind. I have been studying and practicing taichi and qigong for over 20 years. We live happy, rich lives.
