Why did you become an acupuncturist?
During high school, I suffered from hip injuries from cross-country running. My tae kwon do teacher was an acupuncturist who fixed my hip. Ever since, I wanted to be an acupuncturist and help as many people as possible through natural medicine. Simple.

What distinguishes you from other acupuncturists?
I work at an integrative medical clinic that incorporates not only acupuncture and Chinese medicine, but also western functional medicine. The blend of both ancient wisdom and modern medicine create the most effective medical platform for people of all ages.

What do you enjoy most about your work?
The aspect I love most about my work is that I work in a team environment. On staff, we have naturopathic physicians, acupuncturists, and medical assistants. Together, we are all working for the same purpose—to effectively help as many people as possible get better. Period.

What is the biggest misconception you hear about acupuncture?
The biggest misconception about acupuncture is that acupuncture doesn’t work. For starters, according to modern research, acupuncture offers a comprehensive treatment strategy that scientific-based evidence can now start to explain. It’s exciting!

Acupuncture works by calming down the central nervous system and helps encourage the release of pain-killing opioid neuropeptides. In other words, acupuncture directly communicates and speaks to the body and brain. For instance, in Traditional Chinese Medicine, we believe that there are many network channels that flow up and down throughout the entire human frame. By triggering an acupuncture point, we can influence various organs and other body systems.

How do you stay healthy in your own life?
I actively practice qigong, martial arts, and meditation. I live a simple life and focus on what drives my passion—Chinese Medicine and helping others.
